Elegant vintage Ivory Lamberton China Scammell Springfield  College in MA. "Gymnasium" plate,signed by the President Dr.Laurence L. Doggett. Made in Trenton,NJ,dated 1935. Lamberton China Scammell works orginally owned by Thomas Maddock of England and solded to William Scammell in 1923. This magnifient plate commemorates the building of the gymnasium with the fundraising of Dr. Doggett,president of the college. Dr. Laurence L. Doggett (1864-1957),served as Springfield College fourth president and its first full time president (1896-1936). He wrote the book "History of the Young Men's Christian Association", which is the YMCA, started the International YMCA training camp at Springfield College. The plate is in great condition for age,no chips,cracks,crazing or breakage. Gold trim has light wear,gold intact. Hand painted and vivid unique border. E
