Description
You are bidding on a very rare original antique engraving from an 1870s French illustrated journal. It depicts a beautiful
Flat-Coated Retriever (Flatcoat, Flattie, Flatte, Flattie-Tattie, flatt). The dog has dived into the frozen river to retrieve the duck. The hunter reaches out (with help from his friends) to save the dog (and the duck dinner!).
The caption reads: Chasse a la Sauvagine
which roughly translates to: Waterfowl hunt
It is very large (folio size), measuring approximately 10.5 x 14.5 inches (26.5 x 36.5 cm). The picture area is about
8.5 x 5.5 inches (21.5 x 14 cm), with a French caption below and text above it. The text could easily be trimmed before framing, or hidden under a window mat.
The page is in excellent condition for its age.
There is text/photos on the back of the print.
See scan for an accurate view of the condition.
