Description
.835 FINE SILVER 25 CENTAVO COIN from EL SALVADOR-- 1914
Up for auction is a 1914 25 centavo coin from El Salvador, KM 126.
It is .835 fine silver; diameter 25 mm, weight 0.165 oz; reeded edge. The obverse features a coat of arms in which five volcanoes appear within a triangle; this is an historic symbol used by the five republics of Central America during their mostly 19
th
century efforts to form a single nation.
The date “15 de Sept. de 1821” encircling the liberty cap in fine letters is the Central American independence from Spain date.
The reverse shows only the coin’s face value “veinte y cinco centavos” within a wreath.
I am not a numismatist and will not presume to grade this coin, but will say it looks pretty good to me.
For what it's worth,
I have seen coins for sale on eBay graded “Fine” that were far more worn than this coin. Buyer will receive the very coin pictured.
